Call of Duty Ghosts is finally out – Fans braved the cold bitter temperatures to queue overnight to get their hands on the game.

Hundreds of stores across the UK were open at midnight for the release of the 10th instalment, Call Of Duty Ghosts.

Below is a round-up of all the latest comments on the game so far;

The Daily Telegraph said: “It’s time Call of Duty learned to embrace its innate silliness. It’s thoroughly stupid at times and gloriously so.”

They thought the script was lacking, “it’s a blend of familiar set-pieces and a story told almost exclusively in hoarse shouts and gruff whispers,” but admitted that the multiplayer is impressive.

IGN, however, were impressed by the game. “Ghosts takes on a refreshingly unique premise,” they said.

“The variety of environments keeps the campaign fresh, not only in terms of visuals, but in gameplay as well.

“The robust multiplayer gameplay, surprisingly fun co-op modes, and lengthy, challenging, and varied campaign makes Ghosts one of the best Call of Duty games to date.”

8.8/10

Joystiq agreed: “Call of Duty: Ghosts is a step in the wrong direction for the series and a stumble into the next generation.

“Combat is still well-tuned and fast-paced. Set pieces still burn bright with thundering spectacle, but Infinity Ward retreads lukewarm water with its scenario set-up.”

3.5/5

The Metro were unhappy with the lack of innovation: “Ghosts’ never-ending search to find new things for you take remote control of does little to hide the fact that most of the initial scenarios are second-hand at best.

“What’s frustrating about that is not that Call Of Duty has nowhere else to go but that Activision and/or its developers is refusing to take it there.”

8/10

Eurogamer kicks off their review by accusing the game of stealing a scene from Batman film The Dark Knight Rises: “In lifting so blatantly from such a famous scene in a recent popular movie, it offers us a glimpse at the desperate emptiness that can so easily creep into a series when annual updates require a constant stream of wow moments.”

But, despite this, they loved the action-packed game: “When COD’s cheeseball formula clicks, it’s still capable of being devilishly entertaining, the closest gaming comes to the guilty pleasure of a 1980s action movie.”

7/10

Meanwhile, CVG , enjoyed the game, that at times is surprisingly subtle: “The action here moves from tense subterfuge to pitched gun battles and back again with an impressive subtlety.”

They were also highly impressed with the “multi-layered” multiplayer options. “Infinity Ward has built on the legacy of the Modern Warfare series of games.”
