Modern Warfare 2 is now playable on Xbox One

Microsoft has announced that the 2009 Xbox 360 classic is FINALLY backwards-compatible, so you can stick your old Xbox 360 copy in your Xbox One and play it right now — or you can download it from the Microsoft Store for £24.99 (£18.74 for Xbox Live Gold subscribers).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was a first-person shooter game that arrived back on November 10, 2009.

It was the sixth Call of Duty game, and remains one of the most popular entries to date.

Infinity Ward released the game on Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360 – but it could be landing on newer consoles very soon.

Rumour has it that publisher Activision has a Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the works, which could bring the old game up-to-date with new-gen graphics.
