A study has shown that a research firm Strategy Analytics this week released a new report that seeks to predict likely sales of games consoles over the next few years.

The new Connected Home Devices Report predicted that Sony will sell more than 80 million consoles by the end of the decade. It said that Microsoft’s Xbox One will sell around 57 million units.

According to Strategy Analytics, which provides statistical analysis in a number of media, content and technology sectors, PlayStation 4 “is on path to reproduce the success of the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo Wii,” according to a report in GamesIndustry. PlayStation 2 was launched in 2000 and went on to sell more than 150 million units.
